According to the Illinois Real Estate License Act:
Continuing Education RequirementsIndividuals holding a valid real estate salesperson or broker license are required to complete 12 hours of state approved continuing education in the 2 years preceding their license renewal. Brokers must renew their license by April 30th of the even numbered years, and salespersons must renew their license by April 30th of the odd numbered years. Attorneys are exempt from continuing ed. The 12 hours must be taken in the 2 years preceding each renewal period. No carry-over is allowed of extra hours from previous periods. The 12 hours consist of mandatory courses 3 hours each called Core A and a Core B (includes sections on agency, fair housing, license law and escrow) while the other 6 hours may be in elective areas. All courses must be state approved and given by state approved CE providers and instructors. Information Professionals, Inc. is a state approved CE provider.
